The Different Types of Roofing
Updated: Jun 21
The main two types of roofing are asphalt shingles and metal roofing.
3 tab shingles are 20 to 30 year shingles and are inexpensive. Architectural shingles are made with more asphalt but are not recommended for roofs with low slopes. Metal roofing is popular among residential homes.
There is a few types of metal roofing. 5 v rib metal roofing is a common less expensive option to most metal roofing
with easy install.
Standing seam metal roofing is a thicker option but is double the cost of 5 v rib metal roofing.
Pros and Cons
Shingles can be a great insulator for your home and can provide a wide selection of design choices. Shingles also tend to cost less although some shingles such as asphalt may not measure up to metal roofing when it comes to durability. Metal roofing also tends to be more vulnerable to extreme weather conditions.
No matter what roofing material you choose always make sure to get it installed by a reputable and professional company. You should ensure your roof is protected by a warranty to protect your home and belongings.
